Kevin is a part-time GP Partner at North Berwick Health Centre. His specialist interests include care for people living with type 2 diabetes and cardio–renal–metabolic (CVRM) conditions, and management of abnormal blood tests in primary care.

A content advisor to WebMD Medscape Global & UK, Kevin is an accomplished medical writer; his articles distil key guidance, research, and conference proceedings for primary care, and he has co-authored several peer-reviewed articles on aspects of type 2 diabetes and CVRM management. He is renowned for creating Primary Care Hacks—concise clinical aide-mémoires for primary and secondary care.

Kevin is a regular keynote speaker at educational events throughout the UK and Ireland and abroad. He is active on social media (X handle: @drkevinfernando), posting about hot topics in type 2 diabetes and CVRM and delivering ‘tweetorials’. He also creates patient-facing videos on YouTube (@DrKevinFernando) and TikTok (@drkevinfernando).

Kevin graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2000, holds an MRCGP and MRCP(UK), and has a Master’s degree in diabetes. He is an Honorary Clinical Reader at the University of Dundee, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and Academy of Medical Educators.
